Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Clarksville Catholic Youth Camp?

Camp Program is a 8 week Catholic Camp Program that encourages both campers and counselors to grow in their faith and love for Christ. Our campers grow in their faith with the guidance of young Catholic counselors serving as role models in a fun and safe environment. Our high school and college counselors share and grow in their love of Christ through daily Mass, theology classes and Eucharistic Adoration.

Who is in charge of Camp ?

Camp program is directed by Doug Payne. He and his team are in charge of selecting and directing a staff of high school and college-aged individuals to run programming throughout the summer. Counselors will apply, interview and be vetted based on maturity, responsibility, creativity and their desire to share their faith. Clarksville Catholic Youth camp is currently on its way to be a registered summer camp with the State of Maryland and abide by Maryland guidelines, including first aid and CPR trained staff on site at all times.

Who can attend?

The Camp Program is open to youth ages 4-14.  It is not necessary to be a parishioner or even be Catholic. While we discuss faith and encourage it among our campers, one of our goals is that all children feel welcome to have fun, learn and be around positive role models.

Lunch is not provided.  Campers will receive a mid-morning snack during camp.  After-Care campers are responsible for bringing their own lunches.  After-Care campers also receive a mid-afternoon snack around 3:30. All food given out by the camp will not contain any known nut allergens. However, campers are permitted to bring their own nut-related food into camp such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Can my child join a week that is already in session?

Unfortunately, due to supplies and staffing, we cannot accept daily drop-ins.

Will registration remain open throughout the summer?

Registration will remain open as long as spaces are still available, however, families must register no later than the Thursday before the week they wish to attend.

What is your camper to staff ratio and how are staff screened?

Our camper ratio is approximately 6:1.  All staff have submitted applications, and qualified individuals are interviewed and asked to present lesson plans on a camp of their choice.  Those that are granted paid positions are required to be fingerprinted for Maryland and Federal background checks.  All of our employees and volunteers will also be required to take the Archdiocesan Virtus Safe Child or Worthy of the Call class before they may be present at Camp Program.

What about allergies and medications?

Caring for the health and safety of our campers is our top priority. Please note all important health and allergy information when you register online. Please also contact us directly if your child(ren) will be bringing medication to camp.  If your child is bringing an epi-pen, or inhaler, please go to our Camper Medical Forms page, print and fill out the appropriate form and bring it with you on the first day of camp. Camper medical forms must be stamped by your child's pediatrician to be in compliance with State of Maryland Summer Camp regulations.
