Catechist Formation & Certification
Catechist formation is a responsibility shared by the archdiocese and our parish. Formation will prepare the catechist to carry out the fundamental tasks of catechesis:
- Promoting knowledge of the faith
- Liturgical education
- Moral formation
- Teaching to pray
- Education for community life
- Missionary initiation
The Archdiocese of Baltimore and our office will provide many opportunities for catechists and all who volunteer in catechetical ministry to attend workshops and seminars to enhance their formation process. We will be happy to handle the registration and pay for the fee for those who volunteer in our program.
Catechist certification is the official recognition by the Archdiocese of Baltimore that a person has participated in approved formational experiences. The granting of certification is an indication that a person has sought to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to be more effective as a catechist. Our office will be happy to supply you with additional information and guide you through the formation and certification process.
